If you ever had any doubts about Novak Djokovic, maybe now is the time to put them to rest. Djokovic won his 42nd match in a row after defeating Del Potro, 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-2, in an epic showdown today in the French Open. We use the term 'epic' lightly. Once Djokovic broke Del Potro early in the third set, the latter seemed to lose his momentum. Experts say it takes a while for Delpo to get warmed up in a match. The fact the match was postponed after the second set, which was won comfortably, had its negative impact on the Argentine. But, all credit to Delpo. After the match he greeted Nole warmly at the net and the two shared a (passionate) embrace, something Rafa has distanced himself from doing after Nole's recent winning streak. Nole is set to face Richard Gasquet of France next, who will no doubt be the favourite.

Novak Djokovic looked cool and collected, at Cannes on Monday, in a flattering pinstriped suit and muted evening shirt. Nole was invited by Naomi Campbell's 'Fashion for Relief' charity to raise money for those displaced in Japan. Nole was apparently rubbing shoulders with other stars at the world-famous Cannes Film Festival. Besides the usual line up of supermodels Naomi Campbell had in store, Nole was also included. His look had that relaxed but evening feel. Thumbs up from Nole?Nole is no stranger to runways but looked to seek comfort from his 2011 Head racquet.A promenade down the runway. He looks comfortable here.Polished look finished with a smile.

Here are the best selection of photos taken from today's finale, where Djokovic defeated the King of Clay. Hope you enjoy!Close-up shot of Nole on the floor in victory.Nole looks relatively calmer as he poses with his trophy.View of the magnificent stadium of the Rome Masters. See that little figure in white?Amazing fist-pump action.Nole goes crazy with champagne again, like he did when he won last week.Nole's not shy of the cameras.Talking of Rafa, here he is, looking slightly defeated, but colour-coordinated all the same. The Serb looks genuinely happy and at ease as he handles his trophy. An instance of great effort by Djokovic. So worthy of the title!
Djokovic defeated defending champion Rafael Nadal in the finale of the Rome Masters today, in straight sets 6-4 6-4, and extends his winning streak to 39-0. Astonishing. He makes this his seventh successive title of the season and looks to be enjoying every bit of it with his screams of victory that give us an adrenaline rush each time. Although his win won't give him the top rank just yet, Nole will become tantalisingly close to it tomorrow when the ranks are updated. We watched the whole match and saw that Rafa was getting exasperated, and at the end there was no tender Rafole embrace like we were once used to.His reaction upon winning? Priceless. They seem to be smiling but we fear there is love lost between the two. After the match, Nole said "to beat Nadal twice in a row on clay in the last eight days is incredible achievement, and it gives me a lot of confidence ahead of French Open". Djokovic's streak is surely catching up on him, but while it lasts, we are enjoying it. Best of luck for Roland Garros!
Most of you probably saw, or heard, that Nole fell over terribly yesterday as he was trying to close out the semi final match against Andy Murray. The fall looked to hurt Nole hard and indeed the clay was smeared all over his new black Sergio Tacchini 'Flame' outfit. The pain was worth it though. After the match, Djokovic said: "It’s an amazing achievement... a great effort from both of us. Andy played a really good match tonight. He was unfortunate not to finish it out... Obviously I’m a bit exhausted after this match but I’m going to do my best to recover for tomorrow. It’s another final and I will just go out on the court and try to play my best". Good luck, Djokovic.. You're now no stranger to defeating Rafa in major finals, but don't knock yourself if you fail. You've had a great season!

Novak Djokovic has just defeated Andy Murray in the semi finals of the Rome Masters with the score 6-1 3-6 7-6. It wasn't a good match for Nole and indeed many of us on 'Team Djokovic' had our hearts beating furiously fast. The first set was easy and no surprise because of Nole's top form we've become used to. In the second set however, he lost focus. In the third set he saved match point a few times and we were certain Murray was going to win. If Rafa can't beat Nole, how could Murray? Luckily Nole got the third set to a tiebreak and he won with some amazing shots. Upon victory he screamed like never before. It was nice to see! He signed the camera with his autograph and a duck. Best of luck to Nole tomorrow when he faces Rafael Nadal. If he loses to Rafa, it's not something he should be ashamed of.

Novak Djokovic won his 33rd match of the year yesterday when he defeated Lukasz Kubot 6-0 6-3 in Rome and is set to face Stanislas Wawrinka in the next round. Ahead of his upcoming match, Nole said: "He has been around for many years and is a great all-round player. I played against him in the finals here in 2008 and he likes this court and these conditions -- it is going to be a tough match". Rafael Nadal, the defending champion of the Rome Masters, suffered a scare yesterday as he lost a set to Paolo Lorenzi but still managed to come out on top.

Novak Djokovic surprised tennis fans all around the world today as he defeated the King of Clay's (Rafael Nadal's) unbeaten clay streak of 37 wins today. The Serb finished off the tournament nicely with a two set straight win 7-5 6-4 in the final of the Mutua Madrid Open.Novak has said upon winning: “Under the circumstances, I’ve played probably the best match of my life on clay against the World No. 1 and the player to beat on this surface. The way I played was just fantastic. I’m definitely satisfied with the performance and the overall tournament”.The pressure on Nole tonight was immense as he knew that, despite his top form since winning the Davis Cup last year, no-one has beaten Rafa on clay since 2009.To add to the pressure, Real Madrid stars attended, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Kaka and Iker Casillas.Nole has not lost a match this year and has an amazing winning streak of 32-0.At the end, during the awards ceremony, Nole surprised many fans when he started off his acceptance speech in Spanish saying 'buenas dias'! Then he continued in English.Nole's performance was genuinely great. On several of Rafa's service games, he was able to bring them to deuce. Some of the games lasted over ten minutes.Rafa should not feel too sore towards his bud, Nole. Their hug at the end of the match was quite brief. But he will lose 400 points and Nole will gain, bringing him a lot closer to the top rank. Congratulations on this remarkable achievement, Novak Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic made many of his fans lose their nerve yesterday as he struggled, but successfully defeated Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil 4-6 6-4 6-1. In the first set he didn't seem to have his focus, and even at the start of the second he was not playing with the high performance we've become accustomed to. He managed to turn things around in the second and in the third set took advantage of Bellucci's time out and knock on confidence to allow him only one game. The crowd were on the Brazillian's side and was unhappy about it. Still, Novak showed them who's boss with his updated streak of 2011 as 31-0 as of yesterday.Djokovic said: “It’s great for the crowds, it’s great for the tournament, and for us in the end because every time it’s a big challenge and we both look forward to it. We are competing a lot in the last couple of months and we’ve had some really good matches, especially the ones in the United States recently. Of course the memories come back from Madrid 2009, when we played that very, very long match. It’s going to be great for the people to see us play. Of course I am motivated to win against anybody, especially against Rafa because it’s the ultimate challenge on clay courts. You want to step in and give your best and you want to try to win. He’s an incredible player, an incredible competitor and he’s been winning on clay courts so much over the past couple of years. I know that but I need to believe I need to step on to the court and try to win”. He will face Rafael Nadal today at 5.30pm (GMT) and we think today his winning streak will be broken by the Spaniard. Nevertheless, it promises to be a top-quality tennis final.

Novak Djokovic has had a pretty easy time in the Serbia Open. Throughout the tournament this year he has won in straight sets and is to face Feliciano Lopez today in the finale. Ahead of the final tonight, Nole updated his Facebook status with "...Final is tomorrow at 16h. I will try to get the tittle back where it belongs, and that is SERBIA ! :-)". His use of punctuation and spaces when typing is cute. Lopez said: "I think it’s a great match for me to play. I’ve already won four matches this week. My confidence is really high at the moment and I feel great to play against Novak tomorrow. I know it’s going to be tough; he’s been the best player this year. It will be a great experience". It's good that Lopez is feeling great as he may be able to help produce a high quality final alongside the Serb.
